For decades, the Alpha Sigma Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. has proudly supported and participated in the Indiana Black Expo (IBE) Summer Celebration, one of the largest and most influential cultural events in the state of Indiana.

Our ongoing partnership with IBE reflects Alpha Sigma’s deep commitment to community engagement, education, health, and empowerment within Indianapolis’ African American community. Each year, our members can be found volunteering, hosting youth and family-centered activities, and collaborating with other organizations to advance IBE’s mission of uplifting and celebrating Black excellence.

Indiana Black Expo’s Summer Celebration brings together thousands of attendees from across the country for a week of events focused on culture, business, health, and education. As the alumnae chapter located in the birthplace of Sigma Gamma Rho, Alpha Sigma views this collaboration as both an honor and a responsibility. Through our presence at IBE, we continue the legacy of service established by our Founders right here in Indianapolis more than a century ago.

Our involvement with Indiana Black Expo stands alongside other signature Alpha Sigma traditions such as the Circle City Classic, MLK Day of Service, and the Sigma Youth Symposium, reinforcing our mission to enhance the quality of life for women, children, and families through sisterhood, scholarship, and service.

At this past IBE Summer Celebration Exhibition Hall in July, Alpha Sigma hosted a booth where backpacks and school supplies were distributed to local families ensuring students had a headstart for the upcoming school year.
