Alpha Sigma hosts Storm Recovery Relief Day of Service for Northwest Indiana
In response to recent severe storms and extended power outages impacting families in Gary and Northwest Indiana—leaving many without electricity for weeks and causing significant losses of food, basic necessities, and essential household items—the Alpha Sigma Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. is launching its Northwest Indiana Storm Recovery Initiative. Collaborating with the Alpha Sigma Sigma Chapter (Gary, Indiana) Zeta Gamma Sigma Alumnae Chapter (East Chicago, Indiana), Alpha Sigma is organizing both a targeted donation drive and a dedicated hands-on service event to support recovery efforts and restore stability for affected residents.
On Saturday, October 10, 2026, members of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. will travel to Gary and Northwest Indiana for "Get in Action Day"—a full day of service, sisterhood, and community impact. The chapters are gathering essential supplies and financial support for impacted families. High-priority donation needs include:
Hygiene and personal care products
Cleaning and sanitation supplies
Nonperishable food and basic household items
Gift cards and financial assistance for urgent needs
Members of the public and sorority members interested in supporting the donation drive, volunteering, or submitting interest for Get in Action Day are encouraged to visit Alpha Sigma Social Action page for more details.
Special thank you to our Social Action Chair, Soror Jocelyn Johnson, for your coordination efforts to make this statewide initiative impactful to the community in need.

Awesome!
